CERVARIX GlaxoSmithKline's recombinant Human Papilloma Virus vaccine has now been allocated Schedule 2 status.
Cervarix is indicated in females from 10 years of age onwards for the prevention of cervical cancer caused by oncogenic Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). In February 2008 it was registered by the Medicines Control Council as a Schedule 4(S4) product but after a successful appeal it can now legally be sold as Schedule 2(S2) product.
